Point Location Description: Old trenches at roadside

Location Method: Based on Assessment

Access Description: The site is accessible by driving east from Highway 17 along the Scott Falls access road. Cross the power dam and follow a sequence of disused bush roads south of the power line on the south side of the Michpicoten River. The occurrence is located at the intersection of a two bush roads east of Mona Lake.



Exploration History

1940's: trenching. 1962: Algoma Ore Properties - airborne geophysics (WP Nebonainonquet.2). 1981-82: Algoma Steel Exploration - airborne geophysics, ground geophysics. 1987-88: Longreach Resources Ltd/Transgold Resources Lt. - mapping, ground geophysical surveys, soil survey.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence is described as consisting of a 2 m wide mafic flow top mineralized with pyrrhotite and pyrite. The mafic metavolcanic rocks are interbedded with narrow units of intermediate to felsic laminated tuff.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Anomalous values for Fe, Zn, Pb and Ba were found in the vicinity of the anomaly, but none of the values are considered to be economic.
