Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The property consists of a series of quartz veins hosted by the Bridget Lake Stock. The stock consists of a western intrusion of quartz feldspar porphyry that contains late phase segregations of finer-grained granite and supracrustal xenoliths. The eastern part of the stock consists of an inclusion rich phase of the same porphyry. The stock is intruded by gabbro. Banded chert-magnetite iron formation occurs along the northern contact of the quartz feldspar porphyry and also along the southern margins of the gabbro.

Notes: The E vein extends along the prophyry-gabbro contact of th ewestern porphyry uit. the easternmost extent of the vein appears to terminate against a NE-trending fracture zone which also terminates the F and D veins. The western extent of the E-vein bifurcates against a cross-cutting curvilinear shear zone between porphyry and gabbro. One branch of the vein extends NW along the cross-cutting shear zone, but appears to pinch out over a short strike length. the other branch closely follows the curved porphyry-gabbro shear zone to the east and north for about 20 metres but pinches and swells to a maximum of only 20-30 cm and terminates against the C-vein shear zone.
