Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The iron formation is orientated parallel to the axial plane foliation/schist. Within the iron formation, tight fold interference patterns occur.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Multiple chert/banded iron formation horizons occur in a mixed sequence of mafic volcanics and epiclastic rocks. These are within the contact metamorphic aureole surrounding the Kenogamissi Batholith and banded on a 1 to 5 m scale. This metamorphism is amphibolite grade. Fine-grained magnetite occurs in the chert-siliceous iron formation beds whcih locally grade into fine-grained arenaceous rocks. Chlorite sericite and garnet occur in the iron formation.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 10, 2013 (A Wilson) - Up to 20% combined pyrite and pyrrhotite are reported in the iron formaiton and typically only trace amounts of gold occur in the iron formation. However, in the iron formation exposed in the trench, trace amounts of sulphides are present. Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1994 returned values of 0.04 g/t Au, 0.3 g/t Ag. An assay from the sampling program conducted by Hargor returned a value of 0.008 oz/t Au and 1.8 ppm Ag over 5 feet.
