Point Location Description: Trench on west side of Opeepeesway River north of bridge in central Mallard Twp.

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: Access is via the Opeepeesway River accessed where the main logging road crosses the river in central Mallard Township. The showing is about 1.2 km north on the river and then 50 m traverse through the bush from the west shore.

Exploration History

1951: H. Goldman drills 150ft of andesite(?). 1971: Panacea Mining and Exploration Ltd. performed a magnetic and electromagnetic survey over a group of 25 claims registered to John A. Murphy. These claims were located east of the Opeepeesway River in the north central portion of Mallard Township, about 3 claims north of the Ferland-Gauldie-Mogridge showing. The same group of claims was again flown for magnetics later that same year for Claw Lake Molybdenum Mines Ltd. 1979-80: Adeline International Mines Inc. conducted an exploration program over 13 patented and 51 unpatented claims in the central portion of Mallard Twp. Work initially focused on the patented claims but eventually included the unpatented claims and consisted of ground magnetic and VLF geophysical surveys, geological mapping in the north half of the claims, and a rock geochemical survey. A total of 10 drill holes were sunk in the area of the Ferland-Gauldie-Mogridge showing. 1981: Canadian Gold and Metals Inc. conducted an airborne electromagnetic survey over an area that included Benton, Esther, west Mallard, and northwestern Osway Townships. 1985: Blue Falcon Mines Ltd. conducted and airborne magnetic, electromagnetic, and VLF survey over numerous townships which included Mallard Township. 1985: Neville Explorations Ltd. flew an airborne magnetic and VLF survey over an area to the east of the Opeepeesway River which included the Ferland-Gauldie-Mogridge showing. 1987: Cominco Ltd. conducted a ground magnetic and VLF electromagnetic survey over a gridded block of 36 claims straddling the Opeepeesway River just north of Satterly Creek.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Mineralized shear zone occurring within greenstone and exposed in two old trenches. Mineralization is reported to occur over a width of 4.6 m with lenses of quartz and 'considerable' amounts of pyrite. In the southeast trench the schist is intruded by a 3 m felsite dike which is concordant with foliation.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Two samples from the pyritic schist in the area of the intrusive were reported to have run 0.21 and 0.28 oz./ton Au.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The best historical assay for the occurrence is 9.6 g/t Au. Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1994 returned values of 0.28 g/tAu from a quartz lens and 0.38 g/t Au from shear mafic metavolcanics.

Site Visit Information

Date: Jul 12, 1994

Geologist: K Houle

Notes: Probable Hermiston showing located in small clearing just west of Opeepeesway River and south of clear cut area. A 1 x 5 m trench was discovered at this location with an orientation of about 48 degrees. It is not certain whether this is indeed one of the original trenches or a result of subsequent work. Trench hosts a mafic to intermediate tuff that is weakly to moderately foliated. Tuff is intruded by a felsic dyke exposed in the northeast portion of the trench. Tuff appears to have small inter-digitations of felsic intrusive becoming parallel to foliation. Quartz lens or silicified sections up to 50 cm. wide were found to contain up to 5% disseminated and blebs of pyrite. Strike of foliation was measured to be about 312 degrees. Dip was not measured but appeared to be to the northeast.
