Exploration History

1963: Anaconda American Brass Ltd. drilled 11 diamond drill holes for a total of 1250 m in an area just east of 'Otter Pond' about 1.6 km north of Satterly Lake and 1.8 km west of the Opeepeesway River. Anaconda reported intersecting pyrite, pyrrhotite, and chalcopyrite mineralization in hole F-6. 1976: Gulf Minerals Canada Ltd. drilled two hole to the east and northeast of the Anaconda showing. To the northeast, hole M-2 intersected primarily massive intermediate to felsic volcanics. In the east, hole M-1 intersected intermediate to felsic volcanics, felsic porphyry, and shearing. 1979-80: Adeline International Mines Inc. performed ground magnetic and VLF surveys over their Kaplan Project claims in central Mallard Township. The southwest corner of the Kaplan claim group covered the Anaconda showing but the focus of exploration was further to the northeast. 1981: Canadian Gold and Metals Inc. conducted an airborne electromagnetic survey over an area that included Benton, Esther, west Mallard, and northwestern Osway Townships. 1982: Granges Exploration AB conducted ground electromagnetic geophysical surveys over a group of 162 claims located in the southwest corner of Mallard Township. This property was located both south and east of the Anaconda claim group. Geophysics was followed by one hole in an area to the south of 'Otter Pond' testing an EM anomaly. Conductors encountered are described as discrete narrow bands of pyrrhotite and pyrite occurring within a rhyodacite. 1985: Blue Falcon Mines Ltd. conducted and airborne magnetic, electromagnetic, and VLF survey over numerous townships which included Mallard Township. 1989: Pioneer Metals Corp. conducted an airborne magnetic and VLF survey over a group of 93 claims in the southwest corner of Mallard Township adjacent to the area of the Anaconda showing.

Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Intermediate lava flow-unsubdivided 1 Andesite Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Unit is described as an altered andesite with light epidote and feldspathic alteration. A 1 foot section of this rock type is reported to contain 20% sulphides, 50% of which is chalcopyrite. The Unit above is also described as an altered andesite but with local remnant pillow structures and irregular bands and patches of quartz - feldspar - epidote - chlorite mineralization cut by weakly mineralized quartz stringers.

Mineralization Comments

Sep 27, 2012 (P Bousquet) - Although the core log states 20% of sulphides over 1.3 metres, 50% of the sulphides being chalcopyrite, there is no assay to support the log.
