Point Location Description: Outcrop of iron formation.

Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: Take Dore Road north from the main haul road between the town of Sultan and Highway 144. A road heads east into Benton Twp from a point below the Wakami River in Garnet Twp. This road is passable with a truck for several kilometers but turns into an ATV trail which will take you to the Woman River. The showing can be reached by canoe south along the Woman River.



Exploration History

1975: Noranda Exploration Co. Ltd. conducted a ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey over a block of 14 claims that covered the iron formation showing. 1981: Canadian Gold and Metals Inc. conducted an airborne electromagnetic survey over Benton, Esther, and parts of Osway and Mallard Townships. 1985: Weaco Resources Ltd. carried out an airborne geophysical survey (VLFEM, and magnetometer). 1986: Weaco Resources Ltd. completed ground geophysical survey (EM and magnetometer), trenching, mapping and sampling. 1994: Cameco Corp. completed compilation and interpretation, mapping, and sampling. 2012: Entourage Metals Ltd. carried out a ground geophysical survey (gravity) mapping, sampling, prospecting and assays.

Lithology Comments

Jan 29, 2021 (K Houle) - Iron formation unit is described as being exposed on surface over a width of 12' (3.65 m) with an orientation of N60W. Algoma type, sulphide facies iron formation. Unit is described as a chert and pyrite iron formation within Archean metavolcanics.
