Exploration History

1933: Messrs. Jessop and O'Neill staked a claim block covering a number of mineralized quartz veins. Other than the occurrence of chalcopyrite and galena no gold results were reported. 1938: Erie Canadian Mines (Sylvanite GML) examined the showings together with a number of other properties in the area but did not pursue the matter. 1971 Falconbridge Nickel carried out VLF-EM, and magnetic, which covered the prospect. Falconbridge's follow-up drilling was confined to anomalies to the west and northwest in Osway Township. 1980: Hargor Resources Inc. - airborne geophysics. 1981: Osway Exploration carried out a magnetic and VLF electromagnetic survey which covered the prospect. Follow-up work in the next two years consisted of trenching plus diamond drilling. It was during this trenching program that gold and molybdenum mineralization was found in the approximate area of the original workings. A number of holes intersected low grade auriferous zones with some molybdenite. Average assay values in multiple zones are 1.0 g/t Au, 2.7 g/t Ag, and 0.03% Mo in 2 holes (#17 and #19). 1984: Muscocho Exploration acquired the ground but all exploration was carried out over the Jerome peninsula and elsewhere on the south shore. 1993: Cameco Corporation acquired the ground and carried out a till sampling program followed by a diamond drill program. 2007-2010: Augen Gold Corp. performed aerial electromagnetic, magnetic and radiometric surveys; prospecting and sampling; EM, IP, Mag.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - The mineralization occurs in blue quartz stringer veins which form a stockwork. Pyrite and lessor amounts of molybdenite form up to 20% of these veins. Mariposite has also been reported in the veins. The mode of occurrence of the other reported minerals is not known but may be due to the composite description from several outcrops - drill holes.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Average assay values from multiple zones defined by Osway Exploration's drilling are: 1.0 g/t Au, 2.7 g/t Ag and 0.03% Mo. Grab samples collected by the OGS returned values of 0.01 g/t Au, 0.6 g/t Ag, 0.0056% Cu, 0.0117% Pb, 0.02% Zn.
