Latitude: 47° 35' 38.4"    Longitude: -82° 10' 29.28"

UTM Zone: 17    Easting: 411680.39   Northing: 5271845.2    UTM Datum: NAD83

Resident Geologist District: Timmins

NTS Grid: 41O09SE

Point Location Description: Falconbridge hole #1 in Patented claim P32384

Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: Recently access to the area has improved considerably with logging operations along the Arbutus Road. From this road the old drill set up is about a 400m traverse.

Exploration History

1938: The ground was staked for Mrs. Davidson. 1939 Ventures Claims Ltd optioned the property and over the next three years carried out an exploration program prior to patenting the ground in 1946. No record of this work is on file but was probably directed towards either the iron potential or gold potential. 1966: Falconbridge Nickel carried out a diamond drill program (DD-3-1342.5 ft.) in the search for precious and base metal mineralization. Minor copper mineralization (0.59% over 11') was intersected in one hole within a sulphides facies iron formation. Zinc values were not determined. 1980: Hargor Resources carried out a magnetic and electromagnetic survey which 'over flew' the area of the prospect. 1984: Tonapah Resources carried out a ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey combined with a mapping program over the western extension of the iron formation. Two years later in 1986, a soil and humus sampling program was carried out over the claim block and a small drill program was carried out to test some anomalies. Drill results indicated that disseminated sulphides are associated with a sheared graphitic conglomerate but assay results were discouraging.

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Sulphide Ironstone 1 Sulphide-Facies Banded Iron Formation Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - The mineralization is hosted within graphitic iron formation horizons intercalated with volcanic rocks. The graphitic intervals are commonly schistose.
