Exploration History

1949: Mention of the Skye property is made in the Fifty-Eight Annual Report of the Ontario Department of Mines. The report mentions that 'a considerable amount of trenching and diamond-drilling have been done, chiefly on a mineralized shear zone at or near the contact of the sediments and the greenstones'. 1983-84: Kidd Resources Ltd./Blue Falcon Mines Ltd. conducted a ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey as well as geological mapping over a block of claims which included both the Skye and Bi-Ore showings. 1985: Blue Falcon Mines Ltd. conducted an airborne magnetic and VLF electromagnetic survey over several townships including Osway Township. 1986-87: Kidd Resources Ltd. conducted a program of rock stripping and trenching in the areas around the Bi-Ore and Skye showings. This work was followed by a program of 5 diamond drill holes. Three of these holes were drilled in the area of the Skye showing. Rock types intersected include mafic metavolcanics and felsic to intermediate pyroclastics (T-3094 / 19). 1989: Pioneer Metals Corporation conducted an airborne magnetic and VLF survey over a 17 claim block in an area to the southwest of Opeepeesway Lake. 1991: Noranda Exploration conducted a program of humus and rock sampling which covered the Bi-Ore showing as well as the Skye showing to the northwest. Rock sampling indicated significantly less gold values than previously reported in prior work records. The humus geochemical survey failed to reveal any strike extensions of either the Bi-Ore or Skye showings. 2007: Augen Gold Corp. performs aerial electromagnetic, aerial magnetic and aerial radiometric surveys (T-5671 / 2.37373). 2008: Augen Gold Corp. performs prospecting and assays (T-5852 / 2.40516). 2009 - 2010: Augen Gold Corp. performs a ground electromagnetic, induced polarization and magnetic surveys (T-6122 / 2.46079).

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - The schistosity is reported to strike at 100-105 degrees Az and shows 'slicken-sides' pitching at about 70 degrees Az. Two phases of quartz flooding are reported, the second of which occurs as quartz lenses and veinlets with carbonate replacement that cross cuts the foliation.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Series of pits and trenches exposing chlorite-hornblende schist with dark coloured quartz lenses replacing the schist. A second phase of quartz-carbonate lenses and veinlets cross cutting the foliation.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Mineralization includes arsenopyrite and pyrite associated with the early silicification. Coarse grained crystalline pyrite is reported to be associated with the later cross cutting quartz veins. Only sparse pyrite mineralization is reported in areas lacking silicification.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - A chip sample over 2 ft. assayed 0.4 oz/t Au. Most assays range from 0.02 - 0.08 oz/t Au. Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1994 returned values of 4.6 g/t Au and 0.1 g/t Ag; 0.2 g/t Au and 0.1 g/t Ag; 0.26 g/t Au and 0.1 g/t Ag.

Nov 16, 2011 (P Bousquet) - Of 59 grab samples collected by Augen Gold Corp. at the Skye occurence, 14 showed values above 0.5 gpt Au, from 0.68 gpt Au to 13.5 gpt Au (T-5852 / 2.40516).

Site Visit Information

Geologist: K Houle

Notes: Two trenches were located which correspond to the approximate location given for the Skye showing. A chlorite-hornblende-quartz schist was located in the approximate centre of the most western trench and this area appears to have been the focus of most of the previous sampling. The rock is at times well foliated to very sheared. Highly sheared zones are highly weathered and gossany. For the most part, the rock has a gneissic fabric with pyrite and some arsenopyrite disseminates and blebs associated with discontinuous quartz stringers. Second generation quartz veins, as mentioned in previous descriptions were noted in grab samples located at the edge of the pitted area. No mineralization was noted in these veins. Strike of this unit was measured at about 108 degrees. A coarse grained predominantly massive mafic flow was found to be in contact with the schist and is exposed in the trench to the immediate northeast. The second trench located at this site, east and parallel to the first, was overburden filled and contained no visible outcrop.
