Exploration History

1904: Ridout Mining Inc. carried out prospecting. 1927-29: Ridout Cunningham Mines completed diamond drilling. 1954: Cominco completed EM survey, and 3 diamond drill holes totaling 332 m. 1955-64: Consolidated Sunsby Mines completed 55 diamond drill holes totaling 5230 m, trenching, mapping, magnetic and Turam surveys, HLEM survey, soil geochemistry. 1974: Grandorla Exploration completed diamond drilling. 1979: Placer Development carried out ground EM and magnetic survey, soil geochemistry. 1980: Placer Development Ltd. carried out a geophysical survey (electromagnetic, magnetometer, VLFEM). 1980-1982: MW Resources carried out diamond drilling, lake sediment survey. 1990: Cominco Ltd. carried out geological mapping. 1990: B. Otten W.R. Troup carried out geological mapping, geochemical sampling and prospecting. 1990-91: Kirkton Resources completed a compilation, resampling, mapping, EM and magnetic surveys. 1993: Phelps Dodge completed diamond drilling. 2013-2017: Skead Holdings Ltd. carried out a ground geophysical survey (VLFEM, magnetometer, electromagnetic), rock sampling and assaying and analyses.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Medium-bedded chert and brecciated chert are partially exposed at the bottom of a trench. Brecciated chert is dominant at the north end of the trench. At the south end of the trench the chert is truncated by a gabbro.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 29, 2020 (A Wilson) - Mineralization consists of fine-grained pyrite, pyrrhotite and magnetite and occurs mostly as massive bands. A composite sample of the iron formation returned an assay of 38.7% Fe and negligible values of Cu, Zn, Pb, Ni, Au and Ag.
