Point Location Description: Pits with intermittent stripping along side of road. Position transferred from a sketch map.

Location Method: Based on Assessment

Access Description: Road access may be accomplished by taking Highway 677 off of Highway 129 south of Chapleau as far as Kormak station on the Canadian National Railway line. From Kormak station travel 3.5 km by road in a northeasterly direction to where an old overgrown road heads west. Follow this trail for about 1.2 km where stripping and pitting should be found along the south side of the road.

Exploration History

1970: E. Korpela performed pitting and stripping over a sulphide facies iron formation in northwest Eisenhower Twp. One drill hole is reported to have been sunk to a depth of 18 m, which failed to completely penetrate the formation. 1990: M. Tremblay conducted a sampling program in the area with several samples taken just to the west of the Korpela showing. Assay results for these samples were not supplied with the assessment report.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Exposure of magnetic, banded sulphide facies iron formation. Bands are composed mainly of quartz (chert?), amphibolite and massive to disseminated pyrrhotite. Iron formation is hosted by mafic to intermediate metavolcanics.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Iron formation is reported to contain massive to disseminated bands of pyrrhotite with minor amounts of pyrite and chalcopyrite. Assays taken by Korpela are said to be as high as 0.14 % Ni and 0.14 % Cu. Three grab samples taken by R.P. Sage on a visit circa 1970 and analyzed by Mineral Research Branch, Ontario Division of Mines returned the following assays: northernmost pit, 0.11 % Cu, 0.03 % Ni central pit, 0.06 % Cu, 0.03 % Ni, 0.29% Zn southernmost pit, 0.05 % Cu, 0.03 % Ni.
