Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The intense carbonate alteration is largely restricted to a zone bounded by highly schistose shear zones.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The mineralization is hosted in a number of green carbonate horizons within a mafic and ultramafic volcanic sequence. Within these zones, there is locally a well-developed quartz vein stockwork. Individual veins are up to 0.5 m wide.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Multiple ages of quartz veining form the mineralized quartz stockwork. Some of the larger veins form 'S' shaped extensional en-echelon arrays whereas other veins occur in ortogonal patterns. Disseminated pyrite occurs in variable concentrations in the carbonatized rock matrix forming up to 5% of the rock locally. Pyrite also occurs in discontinuous trails in secondary carbonate veinlets. These carbonate veinlets also form a stockwork. However, the quartz veins themselves are rather lean in their sulphide content. Tourmaline has been reported in the quartz veins. Assays up to 5 g/t Au were obtained from highly carbonatized volcanics, but the average grade was 0.3 g/t Au.
