Point Location Description: DDH L1 arbitrarily chosen from map 2008

Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: The best access is via a 7km ATV trail from the road which connects the Multi Mineral property with Nemegos. This trail passes the west side of Lackner Lake and used to extend up to the old fire tower but the condition of the last two kilometres is unknown.

Exploration History

1951 Three Buffalo based mining interests, Le Brasseur Lackner Inc, Derraugh Lackner Inc and MacDonnell Lackner Inc, grouped together to explore their contiguous claims for the iron potential. Initial work consisted of trenching and pitting but no record of this work is on file. Follow-up work consisted of a ground magnetic survey and four anomalies were tested with diamond drill holes. These holes intersected spotted magnetite in syenite.

Geology

Province: Kapuskasing Structural Zone

Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic   Geochronological Age: 1078 +/- 7 MA   Geochron. Age Ref.: OGS STUDY 32, P. 32

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Lackner Lake complex consists of a peripheral and core nepheline syenites separated by a partial ring of alkalic mafic rocks (ijolite and malingite). Magnetite-apatite dikes cross cut all phases of the complex. Cross cutting lamprophyre dikes also have been reported. The complex is enclosed within the gneissic rocks of the Kapuskasing Structural Zone.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Ijolite 1 Foliated Host
Syenite 2 Nepheline Syenite Foliated Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - The mineralization is hosted in a dark (nepheline) syenite which has been mapped by Red Parsons as an ijolite. Detailed petrographic descriptions of the alkalic complex are given by Hodder (1958), Parsons (1961), and Sage (1983).

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The mineralization is hosted in a coarse-grained nepheline syenite. Small radioactive pods of apatite and magnetite were observed by Parsons (1961). Narrow pyrochlore-bearing syenite dikes also were observed.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Spotty coarse magnetite was reported in the drill logs and some magnetite stringers were reported in trenches. Pyrochlore syenite dikes have been reported on the property. The best samples assayed up to 1% Nb2O5.
