Mineralization Comments

Jun 23, 2009 (A Wilson) - The radioactivity appears to be related to hematite along joints. No uranium or thorium-beaing mineral was recognized. A grab sample collected by the OGS in 1970 returned 0.001% U3O8 and 0.07% ThO2. The radioactivity is largely due to the thorium content. Radioactivity disappears rapidly within 0.3 of the joint.
