Location

Township or Area: Rollo

Latitude: 47° 52' 8.95"    Longitude: -82° 36' 18.54"

UTM Zone: 17    Easting: 379962.07   Northing: 5303004.55    UTM Datum: NAD83

Resident Geologist District: Timmins

NTS Grid: 41O15NE

Point Location Description: Drill collar for hole HLR 8901 was transferred from a company grid map onto a 1:50,000 topo map

Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: Access to the area of the drill hole is possible by combination of driving down the Dore Main haul road from Highway 101 to Hanson Lake. From the boat landing at the east end of Hanson Lake a boat must be taken down the lake to a point near the township line. At this point north - south grid lines can be traversed 600m to the set up. Alternatively, a new logging road to the south comes to within 2km of the drill collar.

Exploration History

1966 Hanna Mining carried out a reconnaissance mapping and prospecting program that covered the area of the showing. During this exploration program no mineralization was noted in the immediate area. 1976 Umex commissioned a large regional airborne magnetic survey that covered the area of the showing but no ground follow up work was carried out in the area. 1983 Hanson Lake Resources carried out a soil geochemical survey over a large block of ground that covered the showing. In this survey a number of anomalous zones were identified, most of which were near the common boundary with the Kenty Mine. 1985 Hanson Lake Resources participated in a combined airborne magnetic - VLF electromagnetic survey which covered the mineral showing and adjacent properties. This was followed up with a ground magnetic and VLF-EM survey in 1988. Based upon this work two diamond drill holes were cored and a short interval of low grade gold mineralization was obtained.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - The host rock consists of a sequence of mafic metavolcanics with amygdaloidal pillows, massive flows, some minor pillow breccias and interflow tuffaceous rocks. These rocks contain a number of epidote carbonate fractures and small quartz veinlets. Pyrite is unevenly disseminated within the mafic metavolcanics. The general drill log descriptions suggest that the rock is relatively pristine. This pillowed sequence has been intruded by olivine diabase dyke with a large contact metamorphic zone but the mineralization does not occur in the metamorphic zone. A number of small feldspar porphyry dykes also occur in the core some distance from the mineralized vein.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - A grey quartz carbonate vein 10cm thick occurs in a amygdaloidal pillowed flow.

Jul 04, 2012 (A Wilson) - A single reported assay of 1.6 g/t Au (0.048 oz/t) is attributed to this drill hole HLR-89-01 (T-2968).
