Point Location Description: An old trench towards the eastern end of a series excavated in the thirties.

Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: Access is possible via a rough trail which extends from the old Kenty Mine Road to the former Swayze Townsite on the shore of Brett Lake. From a point near the lake, a skidder trail extends north and passes with a half kilometre of the prospect.

Exploration History

1932 Messrs McNeely and McCullough staked ground adjacent to the Kenty discovery and carried out a trenching and stripping program in the search for extensions to the Kenty gold mineralization. A number of narrow low grade showings were reported. 1976 Umex flew a regional magnetic survey and based on this work staked some claims which covered the prospect. No follow-up ground work is on file. 1982 The Canadian Nickel Company flew a regional electromagnetic, magnetic and radiometric survey which covered the prospect. As Caninco did not hold the ground, ground follow-up was directed else where. 1983 Swayze Resources carried out a geological mapping program and located the old trenches. In the following year a number of areas along the trend of the original trenches were stripped and some old trenches were resampled. Assays results varied from 0.1 g/t to 5.9 g/t Au (0.173 opt) and averaged 2.1 g/t. 1990 Messrs Troup and Otton re-evaluated the favourable rocks west of the Kenty Mine. Work consisted of rock, lake, stream, humus, and some till sampling. Except for two anomalous rock samples collected at the old trenches on the prospect (0.16 and 0.48 g/t Au), results for the other geochemical techniques were disappointing.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - The mineralization occurs in a series of quartz veins / stockworks hosted in mafic metavolcanics. Other quartz veins and various trenches associated with the prospect generally follow a major contact between a felsic intrusive body to the south and the mafic volcanics but are slightly off-set to the north.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Pyrite is associated with the auriferous trenches and locally forms up to 20%.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Assays from samples taken at the time of discovery returned low grade values. Swayze Resources resampled the trenches in 1983 and obtained values of 0.1 g/t Au to 5.9 g/t Au and averaged values of 2.1 g/t Au. Samples collected in 1990 from the same trenches returned values of 0.16 g/t Au and 0.48 g/t Au.
