Exploration History

1931 Mr. Tom Montgomery staked claims to the south of the Kenty claim group and on behalf of Montgomery-Ackerman GML carried out a prospecting and trenching program over a three year period. Reportedly fifteen quartz-carbonate veins occur in the area and are mineralized with pyrite and returned low gold values plus rare visible gold. 1987 Emerald Isle Resources carried out an airborne VLF electromagnetic and magnetic survey which covered the prospect as part of an exploration program primarily focused on the adjacent Kenty prospect.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - In the area of the observed trenching the underlying rocks consist of a relatively massive feldspar porphyry. The feldspar phenocrysts are up to 4mm, and form up to 40% of the rock. Within the porphyry there are zones of iron carbonate alteration concentrated along small discontinuous shears. Veins consist of small (<1cm x 50cm) chlorite or quartz / feldspar veins. To the north of the observed trench there are some thinly bedded wackes and siltstones. Also an olivine / magnetite diabase cuts through the area. This dyke may be part of the Sudbury swarm.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Pyrite was reported in quartz veins. Presently the old trenches are all debris filled and no large veins or any mineralization was observed.
