Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The area of the prospect is underlain by mafic metavolcanic rocks that are cut by a highly carbonatized felsic, porphyry dike. The porphyry has a pinkish-brown weathered surface, but on the fresh surface, is a very fine-grained, grey rock. In the porphyry, there is an open stockwork of very narrow (<1cm), short (<3m), quartz veins. Similar veins also occur in the porphyry as en-echelon arrays. Within the mafic metavolcanics, there are larger, braided quartz veins which are located within narrow, iron carbonate alteration zones.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Grab samples taken from the Hopkins trenches by Swayze Resources (1983) returned values ranging from 0.05 g/t Au to 8.2 g/t Au. A grab sample taken by the OGS in 1994 returned an assay value of 0.510 g/t Au and 0.10 g/t Ag. Within the porphyry, up to 3% pyrite is disseminated as subhedral crystals. Disseminated pyrite also occurs within the alteration zone surrounding the braided quartz veins cutting the mafic metavolcanics.

May 26, 2020 (Sheree Hinz) - In 2009 Red Pine Exploration Inc. got assays of: 23.74 g/t Au over 12m, 54.98 g/t Au over 5m, and 249 g/ton Au over 1m- all from trench C1. Trench C1 has steeply dipping and flat lying quartz-carbonate stockwork, albite alteration, and up to 10% disseminated cubic pyrite. In 2015 Mortimer sent in five samples for gold assay with two showing returns greater than 1 oz/ton.
