Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Contact between quartz porphyry and diorite occurs at a strike of S60E. Mineralization is said to be confined to the highly schistose rock dipping 80N. The ore shoot has been displaced by faulting below the 250' level.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - General geology consists of east-trending and steeply dipping mafic metavolcanics that contain small dioritic intrusions cross cut by later quartz porphyry dykes. The main showing occurs along the contact of a quartz porphyry dike and a diorite intrusive. The host rock along the contact has been replaced by quartz and carbonate mineralized with pyrite and streaks of chalcopyrite.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Mineralization consists primarily of pyrite and streaks of chalcopyrite hosted by a highly schistose contact zone between quartz porphyry and diorite. Grab samples of this material have been reported to be as high as 0.10 oz./t Au. A shallow diamond drill program by Lee Gold Mines is said to have returned values as high as 0.25 to 0.64 oz./t Au. More recent work by Collingwood Energy Inc. (1983) indicate assay results in the range of 244 ppb to 3134 ppb Au from surface samples excluding samples taken from the mine dump. A grab sample taken from the mine dump is reported to have assayed 0.157 oz./t Au. A grab sample from a trench located about 750 m to the south east of the trench is reported to have yielded 9.4% Cu and 248 ppb Au.

Dec 07, 2005 (D Draper) - Grab samples of a surface muck pile next to the shaft taken by Panterra returned up to 2.60 g/t Au (AF T-3859).

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1970 returned values of 1.4 g/t Au, 0.47% Cu. Grab samples taken by the OGS in 1994 returned values of 0.01 g/t Au, 0.1 g/t Ag, 0.0032% Ni, 0.00% Cu; 0.05 g/t Au, 0.1 g/t Ag, 0.0016% Ni, 0.0012% Cu, 0.0011% Pb; 0.07 g/t Au, 0.9 g/t Ag, 0.0091% Ni, 0.317% Cu, 0.0014% Pb, 0.0077% Zn.

Aug 12, 2013 (P Bousquet) - A recent grab sampling campaign performed in trenches returned an assay of 1.983 g/t gold (T-6425).

Date: Jun 16, 1994

Geologist: K Houle

Notes: The Lee shaft, mine dump, and trenches were examined over a period of several hours. Random grab samples in the area of the shaft were examined. A number of samples were found to contain various amounts of white quartz in contact with sheared quartz tuff / sediments or reworked quartz porphyry. Weathered surfaces in this area were predominantly green to grey-green with reddish brown patches. A trench located at 20 m southeast of the shaft was examined at several locations of rock exposure. Outcropping of light brown/beige/pink felsic intrusive was found in the southwest corner of this trench. Rock at this location is weakly to moderately foliated with a strike of approx. 244 deg and dipping sub-vertically. On the opposite side of the trench at a point about 1 m south a shear was located containing sulphides and traces of fuchsite on the sheared surfaces. The area around the shaft was found to have been extensively trenched but very little outcrop was seen in the majority of the trenches. Even in trenches with depths greater than 2m, only till and overburden were observed. Overall where outcrop was present the rocks appear moderately to well foliated with very little to no sulphides observed.
