Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The regional structural trend to the rocks in the immediate area is east-west. However, the mineralized quartz veins trend north-south parallel to the pervasive direction of foliation in the porphyry. However, cross shearing parallel to the regional trend occurs within the host porphyry. Where this does occur the intensity of alteration does increase.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The mineralized vein is hosted in strongly altered feldspar porphyry - granodiorite which is very strongly altered and sheared. The matrix of the porphyry is fine grained and contain up to 30% subhedral feldspar phenocryst which are up to 4mm in size. The alteration of the porphyry is primarily to an iron carbonate but where the intensity of foliation and shearing is high, sericite alteration is probably more dominant. Angular mafic volcanic xenoliths up to a metre are common within the porphyry. In the vicinity of the mineralized quartz vein trending 023 deg silicification occurs. This alteration is a pervasive, intense replacement of the porphyry.
