Point Location Description: Approximate collar locn of Gulf Minerals diamond drill hole HNW-1.

Location Method: Based on Assessment

Access Description: The showing is accessed by the Heenan Road off of the Dore Road which begins in Garnet Township just north of the Wakami River. The Dore Road can be accessed from the south via the main haul road between the town of Sultan and Highway 144. From the 1991 MNR air photo, it appears that the Heenan Road comes within a few hundred meters of the showing in northwestern Heenan Township.

Exploration History

1970: U.S. Smelting and Refining Company completed 1 drill hole approx. 300m east of Gulf drill hole. 1976: Gulf Minerals Canada drilled 1 hole totaling 508 ft. into a block of 16 claims in the northwest corner of Heenan Township. 1984: Blue Falcon Mines Ltd. carried out ground geophysics, geological mapping. 1988: A. Hopkins completed airborne geophysical survey over a strip of claims just north of drill hole HNW-1. 1996: Inmet Mining Corporation carried out geological compilation and whole rock sampling.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Terrigenous-Clastic-Unsubdivided 1 Graphitic Host
Felsic lava flow-unsubdivided 2 Rhyolite Contains

Lithology Comments

Jun 29, 2009 (K Houle) - Section of black, hard, and fine grained graphite containing frequent blebs and veinlets of pyrite that make up about 3-5% of the rock. This unit contains frequent calcite stringers proximal to the lower contact. Graphite horizon is hosted within what is described as a black fine grained rhyolite with fracture plains that are frequently coated with graphite. (OFR 5912-1, p. 314)

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Graphite zone contains 3-5% blebs and veinlets of pyrite. Mention of unspecified sulphides occurring within small rhyolite section.

Jun 29, 2009 (D Draper) - Hole HNW-1 intersected 3 zones of graphite: the upper zone (35.5 ft in width) assayed up to 1% Zn and 0.2% Cu; middle zone (6 ft) returned 0.9% Zn and 0.2% Cu; the lowest zone (31 ft), 0.8% Zn, 0.2% Cu. (Note: assay units are assumed as they are not specified on log)
