Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Sultan scarp is a morainal upland that can be traced discontinuously in an easterly direction across the area north of Westree. The scarp is bounded on the south by an extensive glaciofluvial outwash plain that developed from an outflow of meltwater over a wide front. Occasional raised beaches and aeolian dunes are also found locally.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The majority of the outwash plain is medium to fine sand. Quartz and feldspar predominate in proportions of about 2/3 and 1/3 respectively with carbonate, mica and mafic minerals comprising less than 10%. Mineral grains are characteristically subangular to subrounded. The material is characterized as an impure feldspathic sand.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 13, 2009 (A Wilson) - The composite samples screened to give a 30 x 150 mesh product show a high degree of chemical uniformity. Samples analysed by Morgan in 2000 returned SiO2 values ranging from 74.94 to 76.61%, feldspar about 22% and mica 3.5%
