Exploration History

Pre-1920: H.D. Eby held the claim. 1939-1940: H.D. Eby and Co. shipped 225 tons of barite from the open cut. 1970: William Pollak & Sons Ltd. completed one diamond drill hole totaling 70 ft. 2011-2012: Michael Nemcsok completed prospecting on the property. 2018: Michael Nemcsok completed overburden stripping, trenching, and sampling.

Mar 23, 2023 (Sheree Hinz) - E.S. Moore (1965) describes several ages of diabase in the region, present as both dikes and sills. The barite occurs in a fracture of an early Nipissing diabase sill.

Mineralization Comments

Mar 23, 2023 (Sheree Hinz) - The barite is an irregular lens, 60 feet long by 8 feet wide, cutting medium to coarse-grained Nipissing diabase. It lies in low ground between two parallel ridges of diabase 100 feet apart. The lens strikes N 75 degrees E and dips vertically.
