Exploration History

1939: Property examination report. Best assay in a trench was 0.14 ounce per ton gold over 7 feet. 1948: Property examination report by W.S. Savage 1961: Sunbeam Exploration Company, Ltd. completed geological mapping, ground magnetometer survey and sampling. 1974: Sloane Mining Company Limited completed geological mapping, ground magnetic and EM surveys. 1976: Sloane Mining completed 5 diamond drill holes totalling 984 feet. 1990: LaCarte, McCallum and Komarechka completed stripping. 1991: Diamond drilled 1 hole totalling 102 feet and completed assay work. 1992: Diamond drilled a 320 foot hole. 1993: LaCarte, McCallum and Komarechka completed stripping and trenching. 1994: Completed IP and ground magnetometer surveys 1994-1995: Haddington Resources Ltd. & Portman Explorations Ltd. completed geological mapping, prospecting, geochemistry, sampling, IP and ground magnetometer surveys. In 2001, construction of a new section on Highway 560 west of Porphyry Lake, Tyrrell Township, exposed several narrow quartz veins with minor peripheral carbonate alteration. Grab samples with assays of up to 9.4 g/t Au were reported (Northern Daily News, August 14, 2001, p. 3 and Strike Minerals). 2003: Strike Minerals completed stripping and sampling. 2003-2004: Temex Resources Corp. completed geological mapping, stripping and assaying. Sampling along outcrops exposed during road construction returned assays to 9.6 g/t gold.

Lithology Comments

Sep 18, 2012 (D Guidon) - Between 2003 and 2004, Temex Resources Corp. completed detailed geological mapping and sampling that included the Strike-LaCarte gold occurrence. This mapping shows that west-northwest-trending felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks are cut by north-northwest-trending diabase and feldspar porphyry dikes. The dikes subparallel a north-northwest-trending fault. About 400 m to the west, another feldspar porphyry dike was mapped in a road cut. This dike has a northeast-trend that sub-parallels a fault that trends toward the Tyrranite mine.

Dec 07, 2005 (G Meyer) - The host rock is mostly intermediate to felsic pyroclastic volcanic rock. Also, a small syenite intrusion is exposed on the south side of the highway.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (G Meyer) - Pyrite mineralization occurs throughout the host rock and can be semi-massive. Locally pyrite-rich samples did not return significant gold values.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (G Meyer) - Of particular interest is a strongly silicified (and possibly albitized) zone with disseminated pyrite located at UTM NAD 27 17 497718E 5277210N. This zone is poorly exposed, but appears to strike south-southeast, parallel or sub parallel to some of the quartz veins in the area. The silicified zone coincides with a southeast-trending fault zone, the position of which was interpreted prior to highway reconstruction (Johns 1999). Presumably, the fault zone provided the channelway for the gold-bearing fluids. Approximately 280 m south of the highway, this fault is crossed by another fault, which strikes northeast and is on trend with the Tyranite gold mine. The best potential for a gold deposit may be within the area of the intersection of the two faults. An EM-16 survey may detect the faults as conductive zones and a walking magnetometer survey should reveal the fault zones as magnetic lows. An IP survey may be of limited value since the volcanic rocks have a high pyrite content without associated gold.
