Point Location Description: Mineralized quartz vein.

Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: Road into Champagne Twp accessed via Highway 144 approximately 20 km south of the Gogama turn off. When visited the road into Champagne Twp was washed out about 8 km from the highway and required the use of ATVs to reach Makwa Station. The bridges over the Mollie River no longer appear safe for larger vehicles. The total distance from Highway 144 to Makwa Station is about 17 km. The area of the showing is about a 1.7 km traverse northeast from Makwa Station.



Exploration History

1934 Makwa Champagne Gold mines Ltd. conducted surface exploration consisting of trenching and test pitting in an area to the southwest of the Dunn showing. 1984 Hargor Resources Inc. flew an airborne electromagnetic and VLF survey over several townships in the area including Champagne Township.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - A large irregular quartz lens along contact between a schist to the north and a granodiorite to the south. The vein is said to be exposed over a length of 45 feet (13.72 m) and a width of 10 feet (3.05 m).
