Exploration History

1983: Thor Resources Inc. conducted a ground magnetic and VLF electromagnetic survey over a block of claims that includes the showing. A program of geological mapping as well as rock and soil sampling was undertaken followed by a 6 hole diamond drill program over selected soil and geophysical anomalies. The best result from this program was a 5 foot drill section that assayed 0.45 g/t Au from hole TG-83-6 logged as an andesite tuff. 1985: Blue Falcon Mines conducted an airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey over an area that included the showing. 1986: Canadian Gold Resources Inc. conducted a ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey over an area which included the railway showing. Canadian Gold followed up with a drill program that concentrated on an area to the northeast around Pensyl Lake. 2008: Liberty Mines Inc. – AEM, AMag.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Outcrop of chlorite-biotite schist interbedded with silicified sediments (?). Exposure of gossan zone with a 6 m strike length. The rock has 'abundant mottlings that have contrasting dull-white and reddish brown colours, and are chaotically arranged. Silicification comprises a few, thin, patches of bluish quartz which are remnants of a 'formerly continuous sub-vertical quartz vein parallel to the foliation plane.' (Siragusa, 1993).

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Mineralization consists of predominantly disseminated pyrite within the chlorite-biotite schist with stringers of massive and semi-massive sulphides occurring in the silicified sections. Stringers have been reported up to 1 inch in thickness within the 'mottled' (i.e. silicified sections) and have been found to contain hematite, chalcopyrite and ankerite. Mineralized sample is reported to have assayed 0.13% Cu (Siragusa, 1993).

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1994 returned a value of 0.01% Ni, 0.01% Cu and 0.02% Zn.

Geologist: K Houle

Notes: Outcrop is on a N/S slope about 2 m south of the CNR tracks. Outcrop has been previously trenched in both N/S and E/W directions. Each trench is less than 3 m long. Showing consists of brecciated and silicified zone of about 10 cm. wide within a chlorite schist. The brecciated zone contains angular silicious fragments within a matrix of brown rusty material and up to about 10% disseminated crystals and small stringers of pyrite. Trace chalcopyrite was also noted.
