Point Location Description: The eastern trench which is larger of the two found

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: Very easy access to the general area is possible via the Chester Access Road from the Sultan Main Haul road. From where this access road crosses the Mollie River, short traverses are required in order to reach the trenches.

Exploration History

1933: Chester GML discovered a new gold showing in the southwest corner of patented claim S.21,576 and sank a 35' shaft in addition to trenching and stripping. During this work a total of four veins were found and Laird (1934) obtained a sample which graded 3 g/t (0.1opt) though allegedly higher values were reported by the operators. 1970: Messrs Jones, Gonzalez and McIntosh stripped a quartz sulphide vein for 200m and excavated a series of shallow trenches. No assays have been reported from these trenches. 1973: Park Precious Metals held ground that covered the showing documented here but all their exploration efforts were directed towards various showings at Clam Lake. 1976: Messrs Barry and Barry re-excavated a trench east of the showing and just east of Mollie River down stream of the rapids. No technical information relating to this work is on file. 1984: Johnway Resources carried a geological mapping VLF electromagnetic, magnetic surveying and stripping / trenching program centred northeast of the present showing in an area previously trenched by Messrs Jones, Gonzalez and McIntosh. The original Chester Gold workings were not located in this program but a VLF conductor at the southwest edge of the survey may correspond to the original showing. No assay results from this program are on file. 1987: Isaac Burns Metals held the ground covering the showing but drilled three short holes to the east which intersected some narrow quartz veins with pyrite and chalcopyrite. No assay results from this work are on file. 1987: Blue Falcon Mines together with Kidd Resources carried out a geological mapping program which covered the area and located some old trenches adjacent to a swarm of Matachewan dykes. In the following year a stripping and trenching program was undertaken out and one of the original trenches was cleaned out. No assay values from this work are on file. 2007: Augen Gold Corp. performed aerial electromagnetic, magnetic and radiometric surveys (T-5671 / 2.37373). 2008: Augen Gold Corp. performed prospecting and assays (T-5852 / 2.40516). 2009-2010: Augen Gold Corp. performed ground electromagnetic, induced polarization and magnetic surveys (T-6120 / 2.46063).

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - The granite is cut by a stockwork of joints dominantly in two directions, 240/76s and parallel to 140 trending diabase dykes. The joints trending 240 are more prominent and associated with quartz veinlets locally. The mineralization occurs in a well fractured zone.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Massive medium grained granite with up to 10% hornblende mafic minerals. Parallel to the diabase dykes and east of the trench is a very strongly foliated biotite granite dyke with crenulation folds and quartz veining. This dyke is up to 3m thick and may have been referred to as a lamprophyre.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Massive pyrite together with some visible gold was reported historically. However, the vein presently exposed is very lean in its pyrite content, though there are some sparsely disseminated, fine grained, pyrite grains along the shear zones. This disseminated mineralization extends up to 10cm from the axial shears and can be traced discontinuously along the shears.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1994 returned a value of 143.16 g/t Au, 7.5 g/t Ag from the muck pile.

Nov 14, 2011 (P Bousquet) - Augen Gold Corp. took samples from a rubble (muck?) pile (altered trondhjemite?). These samples returned assays to up to 270 gpt Au (T-5852 / 2.40516).
