Exploration History

1933: Mr Beal acquired the Cote property and is known to have continued prospecting the ground and discovered the present showing which contains visible gold together with pyrite and chalcopyrite. 1965: Shannon Minerals held the ground and covered the prospect with a horizontal loop electromagnetic survey and geologically mapped the area as part of a program to trace possible extensions to the Chester Shannon mineralization. During this program a series of pits and trenches were located at the prospect but there is no record of any results. 1971: Gogama Minerals acquired the ground from the Young Shannon interests and carried out a horizontal loop and VLF electromagnetic surveys together with an IP survey over a 15 claim block. Follow-up work consisted of 3 diamond drill holes two in the area of the Cote showing and one on an IP target in the area of the Beal showing which intersected pyrite and chalcopyrite. 1979: Canadian Crest GML flew a magnetic and radiometric survey over the claims to locate a potential source for some radioactive boulders found along the Mollie River and help define the bedrock geology. Ground follow-up of this survey included overburden stripping and trenching in the general area of the original Cote showing. 1985: Emerald Isle Resources remapped the area and carried out another VLF electromagnetic survey which covered the prospect. No mention of this particular prospect was made in any of the reports and most of the work was directed towards the Cote showing. 1991: Emerald Isle Resources resumed exploration in the area and drilled two holes to the southwest of the showing to follow-up on some surface mineralization which has not been reported to date. These holes intersected some disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite but only trace values of gold and copper were returned. 2004: 1478837 Ontario Inc. – EM, Mag. 2010: Trelawney Mining and Exploration Inc. – AEM, AMag.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Disseminated pyrite with lessor chalcopyrite occur in the host granodiorite where it is sheared and some sulphides are also associated with quartz veining. Minor amounts of native copper has been reported in the drill logs.

Oct 18, 2013 (P Bousquet) - Emerald Isle Resources Inc drilled holes in the area. Hole 91-2 returned an assay of 0.016 oz/t over 5.1 ft. The intersection sits in a mineralized granodiorite (T-2994).
