Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Gabbro 1 Gabbro Adjacent
Quartz Diorite 2 Quartz Diorite Near
Amphibolite 3 Hornblende, Sulphidic Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The mineralization is hosted in a medium grained, off white to dark greenish grey gabbro. There are some local grain size variations and a blue quartz is present where the rock is fine-grained. Elsewhere, feldspar grains form glomeroporphyritic aggregates. Overall the unit is similar to the more mafic phases of the Chester Granitoid Complex.

Jun 14, 2013 (P Bousquet) - The gabbro seems to contain decimetre to metre intervals of medium-coarse grained dark green hornblendite that hosts strongly disseminated, stringers or rare centimetres cluster of sulphides (T-6283).

Mineralization Comments

Jun 14, 2013 (A Wilson) - Disseminated pyrrhotite is widespread in the unit forming about 1% of the rock together with trace amounts of chalcopyrite. Cubic pyrite is dominant in the finer recrystallized and sheared phases. Up to 2% pyrrhotite and greater than trace amounts of chalcopyrite occure locally. No assays are reported for this occurrence.

Jun 14, 2013 (P Bousquet) - Hole MR10-05 drilled in the area intersected one metre of hornblendite which returned an assay of 3730 ppm Cu (T-6283).
