Geology Comments

Jun 13, 2013 (A Wilson) - The mineralized and alterd shear zones are close to and sub-parallel to the irregular contact between highly schistose sediments and the more massive diorite. These shears are up to 4m thick, of variable intensity and alteration, and occur discontinuously along the stripped area. The shear appears to parallel the axial plane of large scale folds. In detail, the more massive diorite contains a number of tightly folded joints.

Vein 1 Quartz Vein Host
Diorite 2 Diorite Near
Schist-Unsubdivided 3 Carbonatized Recrystallized Schist Host

Lithology Comments

Jun 13, 2013 (A Wilson) - The host rock is a medium-grained, medium green diorite with rare coarse grained pegmatitic phases. Alteration tends to be confined to the shear zones and is marked by a medium intensity brown carbonate together with the development of thin seams of massive serpentine or massive, fine-grained tourmaline and tourmaline plus dark green chlorite, several millimetres thick.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 13, 2013 (A Wilson) - Within the carbonate altered shear zones, there are a number of quartz-pyrite veining pods up to 0.6m in size. Pyrite with minor amounts of chalcopyrite is disseminated up to semi-massive concentrations in the quartz veins. Within the quartz-tourmaline stringers, pyrite concentrations are much lower. Grab samples collected in 1939 reportedly assayed up to 0.7 g/t Au. One sample collected from a trench in 1987 returned a value of 17 g/t Au. Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1994 returned values of 4.22 g/t Au, 2.5 g/t Ag; 2.21 g/t Au, 1.8 g/t Ag, 0.05 g/t Au, 0.1 g/t Ag.

Jun 13, 2013 (P Bousquet) - Drill hole SC09-01 intersected 1.12 metres of mafic intrusive which returned an assay of 0.769 g/t Au (T-6297). Samples taken in the vicinity of the pit also returned assays to up to 1.97 g/t gold (T-5852).
