Lithology Comments

Apr 27, 2015 (A Wilson) - Mineralization is hosted within quartz veins in small bodies of syenite and syenite porphyry. In turn, the syenite intrudes a sequence of tightly folded Temiskaming greywackes and conglomerates.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 27, 2015 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by O’Connell Gold Mines in 1915 in the vicinity of the shaft, returned values ranging from trace to $0.60 Au. A grab sample from red syenite and metasediments collected from a pit 70 ft. SW of the shaft returned an assay of $5.60 Au over 43 inches. A sample from the west wall of the shaft returned $2.20 Au over 16 inches. Grab samples collected by R. Sheedy in 1979, returned 0.05 oz./t Au over 5 feet from a pit southwest of the shaft. Samples collected from the trenches dug by Sedex in 1996 returned low gold values ranging from 10 to 386 ppb Au and 7 to 602 ppb Cu. Assays from the 1996 Sedex diamond drilling returned elevated gold values ranging from 1.31 g/t Au over 1 m to 23.45 oz./t Au over 1 m (in altered syenite). Low values of gold were also found within the metasediments. A chip sample taken from a vein in a pit 75 feet southwest of the shaft returned an assay of 0.17 oz/t Au across a width of 5 feet. The best assay from the exploration work completed by Sedex returned 2.0 oz/t Au from an old pit. In 1997 Sedex announced that it had intersected l .06 g/t Au over a 72m width, containing a higher grade core of 6.16 g/t Au /6.0m termed the OKA zone.
