1911 (winter): Stephen Orr – staking of the first three claims on the property. 1911 (spring): John Reamsbottom – additional staking of 3 claims adjoining Orr’s; the staked claims were later acquired by James Hughes. 1912: James Hughes and Sandy McIntyre discovered gold on one of the adjoining claims. 1913: Teck Hughes Gold Mines - acquired the Hughes claims, prospecting and trenching. 1914: Nipissing Mining Co. – optioned the property; sinking of the No.1 shaft. Early 1915: Nipissing Mining Co. – dropped the option. Later that year, Charles Dennison and Associates of Buffalo optioned the property; the No.1 shaft had reached a depth of 500 ft, and a 50-ton mill installed by late 1916. 1917: Kirkland Porphyry Co. – optioned the Orr claims on the south, a shaft was sunk to a depth of 400 ft on a vein in a structure later shown to be the Kirkland Lake ‘Main’ break. 1923: Teck-Hughes Gold Mines Ltd. – acquired the Orr property giving the company a full quarter mile along the Main break. 1917-1968: Production.
