Exploration History

1911: C.A. McKane – staking of the property. 1912: Vein-fault or ‘Main Break’ discovered on the property. 1913: Kirkland Lake Gold Mines – sinking of the No.1 shaft to 80 feet. 1914: Beaver Consolidated Mines Limited optioned the property and deepened the No.1 shaft to 200 feet, with a level established at 175 feet. 1916-1918: Deepening of No.1 shaft to 700 feet; sinking of No.2 shaft to 500 feet with 3 levels at 300, 400 and 500 feet and at least 600 feet of underground development. 150 ton mill installed and production began in 1918. September 1960: End of production.
