Point Location Description: Sheer zone in outcrop on the west side of the right-of-way for the pipeline.

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: Access to the property is by gravel road at the Portelance property, 0.2 km north of the bridge in Kenogami. The road goes east for 0.9 km to the pipeline. The showing, as now exposed, is 0.3 kilometres northwest. The pipeline is passable by truck.

Exploration History

In 1939 and 1940, Sylvanite Gold Mines, Limited completed an extensive exploration program on the Tremblay Claim immediately to the south of the pit on the McCombe property. Large trenches in the overburden were excavated (totalling over 160 m in length) and extensively sampled. Two holes, totalling 152 m were diamond drilled. Veins trended at 330 degrees with assays to 2.76 ounce Au per ton. Assays were erratic. The original showing had ore grade values across 3 feet for a length of 25 feet. Assay results of the 2 drill holes were disappointing. In 1959, the Hecmac Syndicate optioned claims from Pepin along the pipeline. Four holes, totalling 119 m, were diamond drilled under the pipeline to intersect a eight foot wide quartz vein system striking north to northeast. Reported grab assays are to about 0.5 ounce Au per ton but the best drill result was 0.1 ounce Au per ton over 2.3 feet (see also KL-1550). The following was accomplished by D.G. Sirola and Norcana and Orcana Resources, who optioned the property from Sirola, between 1978 and 1985 in assessment file KL-2512. In 1981, Norcana Resources Limited completed a VLF-Em and Magnetometer survey over thirteen claims. In 1983, Orcana Resources Limited mapped the property and completed a 34-hole overburden drill program totalling 70 m of drilling. McCombe found a gossan under a tree root at the edge of the pipeline during 1995. He reported assays up to 0.08 ounce Au per ton (personal communications). Originally the author considered it to be float but later stripping showed that this was bedrock and the shearing associated with the gossan could be followed for about 30 m.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Guidon) - Older work tested narrow quartz veins within mafic Mg-tholeiitic volcanic rocks of the Kinojevis South assembalge, some of which are oriented at 330 degrees like the stratigraphy. McCombe found a sheared gossan under a tree root at the edge of the pipeline right-of-way. Initially the author considered this to be a float sample. Later stripping by McCombe showed that this is bedrock and could be followed at least 30 m. The outcrop further to the west shows shearing over about a 25 m width. The shear zone has a strike of 100 and dips 60 to the south. Property descriptions by Archibald (KL-2512) suggest that shear zones trend approximately 300 degrees. Shear zones have been noted at this trend at the Four Nations property to the southeast.

Mafic lava flow-unsubdivided 1 Tholeiitic, Pyritic Fine Grained Breccia Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Guidon) - Zone is fine grained tholeiitic basalt breccia with trace fine grained pyrite. The rock is healed with quartz stringers. The rock is slightly to moderately magnetic suggesting iron tholeiite.

Dec 07, 2005 (D Guidon) - Rock is sheared, shows some bleaching. Trace of fine grained disseminated pyrite. Patchy reddish spots possibly hematite stain.

Site Visit Information

Date: Jun 13, 1997

Geologist: D Guidon

Notes: Property was visited August 29, 1995, September 19, 1995, May 29, 1996 AND July 12, 1996. This particular showing was only one of many visited. Originally little emphasis was placed on this on because: on the pipeline right-of-way; poor exposure; it was considered to be float; Later stripping by McCombe exposed a wide weak shear zone with trace disseminated pyrite. Sampling by Macassa Mine geologist returned many assays in the 0.03 to 0.05 ounce Au per ton range (McCombe, personal communications). McCombe reported assays to 0.08 ounce Au per ton (personal comminications). Samples collected 96307, 96308, 96309. Photographs - slide 500082, 500083.
