Lithology Comments

Jan 16, 2015 (A Wilson) - The country rock is a red syenite in which there is a barite vein that strikes N65W and dips 80N. A shallow shaft (15 ft deep) was sunk on the vein. The vein had a width of 15 ft and the barite could be traced for 100 feet where it narrows to 7 ft. Beyond this, there is a drift followed by an exposure of barite about 30 ft in length and 3 ft. wide at the east end.

Mineralization Comments

Mar 18, 2015 (A Wilson) - A sample collected in 1916 over 8 feet contained 90.5% Ba(S0)4. A siliceous zone up to 30 inches wide, appears to persist along the hanging wall contact. This zone consists of a fine-grained, barite-quartz matrix carrying stringers and interspersed crystals of coarser feldspathic barite. The vein was exposed for 180' averaging 12' wide. Chip samples at 2+OOW and 2+86W assayed greater than 75% barite and a diamond drill hole drilled to intersect 50 ft. below 2+86W intersected 6 ft. of barite assaying 69% BaSO4. Barite concentrations of 15 to 25% from till samples were obtained by Inco.
