Exploration History

1999: Rosko, P.A: trenching sampling 1989: Queenston Mining Inc: exploration and follow-up diamond drilling 1988: Strike Minerals Inc: surface stripping, trenching, mapping and sampling 1986: Premier Explorations Inc: airborne magnetic and VLF-EM surveys 1975: Canadian Johns-Manville Co. Ltd: re-staking and exploration for gold 1972: Canadian Johns-Manville Co. Ltd: line cutting, geological mapping, biogeochemical and basal till geochemical surveying; magnetic and electromagnetic surveying to test for Cu-Mo mineralization in the granites within the shaft area. The results were poor; claims allowed to lapse. 1936: Thesaurus Gold Mines Ltd: dewatering, 202 ft of diamond drilling on the 300 ft shaft level 1920-24: Thesaurus Gold Mines Ltd: sinking of a 308 foot shaft. Free gold was found in the No. 1 Vein while sinking the Thesaurus shaft. 1917: James Nelson: staking of the claim

Mineralization Comments

Jun 08, 2010 (J Suma-Momoh) - Grab samples collected in 1963 by Lovell (1967) from the waste dump near the shaft (hence presumably from Vein No.1) assayed as high as 0.14 oz Au/ton. MacMichael (1981) reports assays of Vein No.1 material of up to 0.23 oz Au/ton. Newsome (1987) collected 5 samples of dominantly vein material from the dump which returned values ranging from 0.035 to 0.153 oz Au/ton. REF: KL 2565, page 8. Grab samples taken by Strike Minerals from the No.1 Vein during the 1988 stripping returned values as high as 0.545 oz/t Au. REF: Assessment Work Report by W.J. McGuinty, page 2, in KL 2565. Rosko, P.A. collected 3 grab samples from the property in 1999. The best assay was 9920 ppm Cu, 164 (average) ppb Au and 12 ppm Ag. REF: KL 4807 The Thesaurus Mine has not been evaluated in detail to date but evidence at surface and from rock in the waste dump suggests stockwork developed about a strong altered quartz porphyry oriented between N30E and N61E. Quartz veins are found in fissures in the granite near the granite-tuff contact. There are three principal veins on the property. The No.1 Vein on which the shaft was sunk is made up mainly of quartz mineralized with pyrite, some chalcopyrite, sphalerite, native gold, chlorite, calcite and molybdenite. The quartz lenses are from 10 to 30 inches in width and the adjoining granite is highly altered, brecciated and silicified. REF: KL 2675.

Alteration Comments

Jun 08, 2010 (J Suma-Momoh) - From the stripping program conducted by Strike Minerals, considerable alteration was revealed in the area around the shaft. Heavy Silicification, carbonatization, and pyritization are present around the shaft veins. REF: KL 2565, page 8. The granite is partly altered along the veins to a greenish colour, while unaltered granite is grey or pink. REF: ODM 1967, GR 51, page 25.
