Exploration History

1931 - trenching and diamond drilling revealed 2 small veins. An inclinded shaft was sunk on the Ashley vein. 1932-1936 - Inclined shaft sunck to 403 feet with levels at 100, 200, 300 and 400 feet. Two winzes, one at the 400-foot level with levels developed at 500 and 600 feet. A total of 17 316 feet of underground development. Underground and surface diamond drilling. 1947 - Caramora Porcupine Mines Limited purchased 3 claims including the shaft claim and found a new vein, between 4 inchaes and 2 feet in width, containing visible gold and tellurides. Underground working pumped out to 100-foot level and 3 diamond drill holes completed. 1947-1948 - Trenching and diamond drilling on the Garvey Vein. 1980 – Noranda started an adit on the vein. Hand sorted material was shipped but no record of the production exists. Sampling of the muck pile by Newmont Exploration and Pamour Porcupine Mines Ltd. returned 0.20 and 0.12 ounce per ton gold per ton, respectively (Petromet) 1982 – Petromet Resources Ltd. completed a bulk sample which returned 1.30 ounce per ton gold over 0.22 m over a strike length of 88.4 m 1984 - Petromet Resources Ltd. completed completed 3 diamond drill holes totalling 834 feet. Appear between the Ashley and Garvey veins. Weak mineralization was encountered in holes 1 and 3. 2002 – Phoenix Matachewan Mines Inc. completed IP, mag, stripping, prospecting and sampling.

Geology Comments

Oct 23, 2012 (D Guidon) - The volcanic sequence containing the auriferous veins on the Ashley property comprises massive, pillowed, variolitic and hyaloclastic basalts. The stratigraphic trend as established from pillowed basalt is NNW to NW trending with pillow facings to the northeast. A variolitic basalt unit mapped in the Garvey vein area substantiates the trends indicated by pillows. (Petromet 82)

Lithology Comments

Oct 23, 2012 (D Guidon) - The quartz veins on the Ashley property are indicated to occupy l late N-S and NE fractures. North-south trending veins dip 30 to 50" west and NE veins are indicated to dip 20-45o northwest. The quartz veins generally range from 3 cm to 60 cm wide and are characterized by the presence of visible gold, tellurides, and variable but minor quantities of pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite. Wall rock alteration consisting of hematization, epidotization, silicification and pyritization is characteristic over narrow widths adjoining the veins. (Petromet 82) Veins in adit strike 148 and dip 40 SW
