Geology Comments

Jun 23, 2010 (J Suma-Momoh) - 'The showing is a narrow quartz vein cutting massive tuffs and a syenite dyke. Vein strikes NE and dips 60 degrees to the SE.' REF: KL 0895. The quartz vein is in the contact zone between massive volcanic rocks (possibly tuffs) on the west and syenite porphyry on the east. A diabase dyke is 60 feet east of the contact. REF: OGS 1967, GR 51, P29.

Lithology Comments

Jun 23, 2010 (J Suma-Momoh) - 'Sandy area in which outcrops are scarce. Property underlain by tuffs of Keewatin age, cut by occasional dykes of syenite and diabase.' REF: KL 0895.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 24, 2010 (J Suma-Momoh) - A grab sample of red syenite porphyry containing quartz stringer was taken by Lovell, H.L. It gave an assay of 0.14 oz of gold per ton. A loose sample of vein quartz taken from a dump on the property in 1963, and containing small amount of chalcopyrite and pyrite assayed 8.41 oz/t gold and 9.79 oz/t silver. REF: KL 0895; ODM 1967, GR 51, page 29. A sample from the vein in the main pit was collected by H.A. Halet in October, 1972. The material was quartz, slightly mineralized with fine pyrite and chalcopyrite with no visible gold. It yielded an assay of 3.44 oz of gold per ton. REF: Report by I.C. Christopher (dated January 17, 1973), page 3, in KL 2411. 'Hollinger officials report that over a length of 90 feet and a width of 11 inches, values of 1.5 oz/t of gold were found. The ore body was also located in drilling. At both ends of the 90-foot section the fracture continues farther, but little quartz and no values were found.' REF: OGS 1967, GR 51, P29.

Alteration Comments

Jun 23, 2010 (J Suma-Momoh) - The red colour of the syenite wallrock is probably caused by hematite contributed from the hydrothermal solutions that introduced the quartz. REF: OGS 1967, GR 51, P29.
