Geology Comments

Aug 24, 2012 (D Draper) - [BHP’s] claim group covered a series of northwestsoutheast to north-south trending, steeply north and east dipping Archean ultramafic to felsic flows and tuffs, minor sediments and intercalated iron formation…The entire volcanic package has been intruded by a series of thin to thick, fine to coarse-grained gabbroic and guartz-gabbroic dykes and sills. The property is bounded on the north and east by the Adams and Geikie plutons which are described as porphyritic granodiorite. (from Jan. 6, 1992 rept by P.D. Burt, T-3480/2.15008)

Intermediate Tuff 3 Tuff Adjacent

Gabbro 5 Intrudes

Lithology Comments

Jul 12, 2007 (A Wilson) - The occurrence consists of a relatively thinly-bedded iron formation (0.5 to 5 m) occurring in the middle of the intermediate to felsic volcanic rocks and extends over 8 km across the township. It is composed of magnetite rich bands that range in thickness from 1 to 10 cm within felsic tuff. Locally the banded iron formation consists of interlayered magnetite-rich and red chert bands.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 24, 2012 (D Draper) - Hole 92-MDD-01 was drilled to test the iron formation, a coincident EM conductor and a Cu-Zn soil geochem anomaly. Significant assay results were as follows: --sample at 74.5m downhole in sulphide IF with 10% to massive po and1% stringer cpy, returned 5230 ppm Zn and 1150 ppm Cu; --sample at 78.9m in sulphide IF with up to 50% py, 10% po, and cpy, returned 4600 ppm Zn and 1385 ppm Cu; --sample at 166.3m in oxide IF, assayed 590 ppb Au over 0.7m; --sample at 178.4m in oxide IF mineralized with 35% po and 3-5% cpy, returned 5920 ppm Cu and 4890 ppm Zn. All the above samples also assayed over 15% Fe. (T-3480)

Jul 12, 2007 (A Wilson) - The magnetite-rich layers do not exceed 30% by volume of the rock and are commonly less than 15-20%.
