Exploration History

1925 - James Luke prospected in the area discovering a mineralized aplite dike 1925 - Gledhill visited Luke's property and reported minor gold assays from a pyritized greenstone 1938 - T.S. Vipond and C. Heard who completed stripping, trenching and sampling. They later reported that chip sampled from a sheared and carbonitized metavolcanic tuff in the area of the old workings assayed 0.11 optA Au 1947 - property visited by W.S. Savage, Resident Geologist, Swastika, who made geological examinations and reports assays between $3.00 and $4.00. 1973 R.Rousseay and R. Rochon completed trenching and sampling of the occurrence. 1974 - 1975 Vantage Mining Co., Ltd. completed geological mapping, magnetometer and VLF surveys over the occurrence. Sampling yielded values to 0.05 opt gold. Report of historic value of 0.11 opt from a 20 foot chip sample. A single diamond drill hole tested a mag and VLF anomaly a short distance to the NE of the occurrence without encountering economic mineralization 1990 - Newmont Exploration completed a magnetometer survey over the occurrence. 1997 - Inmet Mining Corp. completed magnetometer and IP surveys as well as geological mapping and sampling. Values of 648 ppb Au and 570 ppb Au reported from this occurrence. Surveys indicate coincident IP and magnetic anomalies associated with the occurrence. A diamond drill hole tested this anomaly several hundred meters to the east where it cuts a syenite dike.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - This occurrence is found in the andesite tuffs and agglomerate of Mg tholleiite affinity. The schistosity of the host rocks and shear apparently strike WNW and dip 60 N. The occurrence outcrop is cut by an aplite or albitite dike. The shear zone which is up to 7.5 m wide is choritized, fe-mg carbonate altered, (possibly silicified) and mieralized with disseminated pyrite.
