Point Location Description: Drill hole collar of Gulf Minerals DDH Z-3

Location Method: Based on Assessment

Access Description: Access to the property is gained by taking Pine Street south from the city of Timmins for a distance of 50 km, thence east along a major lumber road to the Zavitz Hincks Township border. Lumber trails suitable for ATV traffic lead north to the area of this occurrence.



Exploration History

1965 Canadian Nickel Company, staked 15 claims on regional airborne targets. Ground Mag, Em and geological surveys. 2 ddh intersected 1-2% diss. Py and Po in graphitice sediments and volcanics. 1974 Faclonbridge Nickel completed ground mag, em and geological surveys 1975 Gulf Minerals 4 ddh intersections of 4.7 m and 1.6 m massive Py and Po. Assays of up to 0.32% Zn and 0.005 opt Au were reported. 1989 Inco Exploration, geological mapping, ground mag, vlf-em, trenching and sampling. no significant assays reported. 1997 M.A. Tremblay completed prospecting and sampling in the area of the Gulf Mineral Diamond Drilling.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - The area of Gulf Minerals 1975 diamond drilling and Canadian Nickel's 1965 drill hole is underlain by pillowed and brecciated basalts. These are overlain by graphitic sediments and a narow unite of Volcaniclastic conglomerate. Disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite are common. Massive barren sulphides were encountered within the graphitic rocks.
