Exploration History

1976 Gulf Mineral LTD completed 8 diamond drill holes on 2 properties in SE Zavitz Tp. Occurrence grade nickel intercepts were cut in 4 widely spaced ddh all located to the S and W of Moray Lake. A MDI record exists for each drill hole. DDH Z-9 cut a serpentinized ultramafic rock followed by a felsic metavolcanic. The ultramafic was intersected from 13 to 275 ft. down the hole. Fout intervals returned nickel values 32.5 to 37.5 ft. (5.0 ft.) 0.14% Ni, 87 to 92 ft. (5.0 ft. ) 0.15% Ni, 163 to 168 ft. (5.0 ft.) 0.29 % Ni, 245 to 250 ft. (5.0 ft.) 0.25% Ni.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - The host ultramafic rock is fine to medium grained and commonly serpentinized. Talc and asbestos mineralization is minor. Calcite alteration is common. The rock is magnetic. The adjacent felsic metavolcanic is decribed as massice to agglomeritic. It is commonly chloritized and altererd by calcite. It contains minor amounts of py, po, and traces of cp. but assays did not return anomalous values.
