Geology Comments

Mar 15, 2016 (S Fumerton) - In the arenite beds several hundred metres south of the drill holes have some delicate cross-bedding which indicates that stratigraphic tops are to the northeast.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Pyroclastic tuffs and agglomerates outcrop just west of the drill locations.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Oxide Ironstone 1 Oxide Facies Host
Mafic pillowed flow 2 Basalt Tholeiitic, Pillowed Adjacent
Arenite 3 Near

Lithology Comments

Mar 15, 2016 (S Fumerton) - The surrounding rocks consist of massive and pillowed iron tholeiitic basalts in a sequence together with some chert, arenaceous, and iron formation beds. The arenaceous rocks are finely bedded siltstones to sandstones with some cross bedding and probable have been derived from a felsic pyroclastic. The chert horizons exposed are thin (<5cm) though locally spaced about 1m apart in an arenaceous sequence. The iron formation is only known in drill core and consists of oxide facies up to 5m thick.

Mineralization Comments

Sep 06, 2007 (S Fumerton) - Reports indicate that a magnetite iron formation with 15% magnetite occurs together with minor chalcopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite.

Mar 15, 2016 (A Wilson) - Iron values up to 10% Fe have been obtained from this showing. A 1 ft section of carbonate vein returned an assay of 1.09% Cu (ddh #3) (T-604).

Site Visit Information

Date: Oct 05, 1992

Geologist: S Fumerton

Notes: An attempt was made to locate the drill collar on the ground. This was not successful. The quoted UTM co-ordinates correspond to a creek in a stand of large cedars and either side of the cedars are abundant dead fall and diseased spruce and pine. No fabric pertaining to a grid or drilling was found.
