Point Location Description: Small pit on the south side of outcrop at a point near the southern most end of Akweskwa Lake.

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: Follow Highway 101 west of Timmins until you reach where the Opishing River crosses the highway between Opishing and Beaucage Lakes. Take the Akweskwa Lake Access Road as far as the boat launch at Akweskwa Lake. By boat travel to the southern most bay of Akweskwa Lake. The showing in just south of a small point on the east shore of the Lake about 10m from the waters edge.

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Small tight fold plunges at approximately 300 deg. az. Limbs of fold exhibit small <2cm secondary folds. Wallrock exhibits weak to moderate foliation at about 310 deg. az.

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - Small 2-5cm folded, plunging sulphide vein found within a fine intermediate to mafic tuff to ash tuff.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K Houle) - 2-5cm of semi massive pyrite associated with nose of small plunging fold. Pyrite appears as a band within the nose and as a thin seam along the limbs. White quartz is associated with the pyrite in the nose and occasionally along the limbs. Wallrock contains <6% blebs, disseminates and stringers of pyrite proximal to the pyrite seam.


Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Grab samples taken by the OGS in 1993 returned assays of 0.3 g/t Au and 1.3 g/t Ag and 0.64 g/t Au and 1.9 g/t Ag.

Site Visit Information

Date: Jun 23, 1993

Geologist: K Houle

Notes: Pit is on the south side of an outcrop located about 10m from the lake on the south side of a small point. There is evidence of other work in the area indicated by an old drill road leading up to a large clearing in the centre of the point. Drill casing was located in the west end of this clearing.
