Geology Comments

Jul 13, 2020 (G Seim) - N. Hogg (1946) reports in T-71 The major recent developments have been in shears striking north-south through grey biotite granites; These types include the 1010 vein in claim P-1010 and the Jowsey vein, in claim p-1385. Both these veins strike north-south and dip steeply to the east and both are more than 1/2 mine from the contact between the granite and greenstone. Both veins have been traces intermittently on surface for some 700 ft. They are marked by sharply defined rusty weathering shears in the granite. These shears pinch and swell from tight cracks to rusty zones over 6 feet wide. In places thy pinch out entirely and recur further along strike. The fracture as a rule is filled with a quartz vein, which also pinches and swells with the shearing from less than an inch to 2 feet, but on average is only about 2 inches. The quartz is mineralized with pyrite in narrow seams forming a network though the quartz and as coarse scattered crystals. The crushed granite in both walls of the fracture also carry pyrite and carbonate stringers. A little chalcopyrite is also present, but in very small quantity. The Jowsey vein passes into low ground both on the north and the south ends, both further south along strike in claim P-1384 some trenching and stripping has been done on a similar north-south shear in granite. At this point the shear takes a similar fold and pinches out on a well-exposed outcrop. Still further south along the strike, in P-18468, a north-south shear across a wide dyke of quartz porphyry has been developed by surface work and values have been reported in the form of free gold.

Mineralization Comments

Jul 13, 2020 (A Wilson) - Diamond drill holes completed by Jowsey Denton reportedly returned assays as high as 2.82 oz/t Au over 1.1 ft at a depth of 60 ft. Surface samples collected from the vein returned values up to 6.44 oz/t Au over 0.7 ft. Channel samples collected by Gowest Resources in 1985 returned values ranging from 0.026 to 0.234 oz/t Au.

Jul 13, 2020 (P Bousquet) - Melkior Resources Inc. drilled several holes through the Jowsey vein. It reported intersections of 0.7 m at 12.5 g/t gold, 1.2 m at 7.2 g/t gold, and 0.5 m at 89.5 g/t gold (T-6267).
