Lithology Comments

Jun 26, 2012 (A Wilson) - Marl is erratically distributed in the pond to the east of the highway and does not appear to be present in the pond to the west of the highway. At the extreme SE corner of the lake, 13 feet of marl underlies 3 ft of water and overlies medium-grained grey sand.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 26, 2012 (A Wilson) - A bulk sample of excavated marl returned 98.6% total carbonates. An arithmetic average of five samples taken at random points gave 87.0% CaCO3, 2.2% MgCO3, 0.28% Fe,O3 and 1.83% insoluble. The crude marl averages 56.5% water and 720 cubic pounds of dry marl can be extracted from one cubic yard of the crude.
