Exploration History

There is no record of this occurrence prior to 1937 when claims covering the occurrence were optioned to Goldale Mines Limited. Samples taken by that company yielded erratic gold values. The occurrence was held by Wakemac Denton Gold Mines Ltd. in 1945, when trenching and pitting and diamond drilling (7 holes totaling 700 m). Esso Minerals Canada held the property through the 1980's and completed geological mapping, mechanical stripping, sampling, geophysical surveys including IP and diamond drilling. At least 9 diamond drill holes tested the property in 1984 and a total of 12 drillhole (2410 m) were drilled on the property in 1988. 4 holes were drilled on the main showing and 6 drill holes tested a second zone 600 m to the east. In 2000, Explorers Alliance Corporation completed 2 ddh totaling 537 m. EDB00-1 intersected 0.75 m grading 874 ppb Au, 1420 ppm As starting 126.75 m, 0.7 m grading 941 ppb Au, 3160 ppm As starting at 149.6 m, and 0.5 m grading 18549 ppb Au and greater than 1 percent As starting at 188 m followed by 0.45 m grading 720 ppb Au. EDB00-2 intersected 0.6 m 1373 ppb Au and greater than 1percent As starting at 169.5 m.

Geology Comments

Jun 11, 2020 (G Seim) - The McCoshen Occurrence is contained within a succession of basalts. The occurrence consists of zone of intense shearing and carbonate alteration with many short, ptygmatic quartz veins and sulphide horizons. The principal schistosity trends west and dips 50 to 75 degrees to the north.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 11, 2020 (G Seim) - W. Jewett (1943) reports the gold occurs associated with sulphides and arsenides in quartz filled fractures and drag fold veins and in the disseminated sulphides in the country rock. Jewett further reports that the occurrence yielded channels samples from trace to 0.32 opt Au over widths varying from 4 to twenty feet. Best surface assay by Ron Shigelski (Esso Minerals Canada) 0.8 opt Au over 1.8 m The Esso diamond drilling yielded a few values over 1g/t Au. The best assays reported in the Esso drilling are Hole DE88-4 from 94.06 to 94.70: 0.64m wide, 4.36 g/t Au. Hole DE88-5 from 116.33 to 117.00: 0.67m wide, 2.42 g/t Au. Hole from 117.00 to 117.70: 0.70m wide, 4.82 g/t Au. Hole DE88-9 from 120.23 to 123.70: 0.47m wide, 1.31 g/t Au. Hole DE88-10 from 117.63 to 118.24: 0.61m wide, 1.09 g/t Au. Hole DE85-8 from 89.50 to 90.00: 0.50m wide, 6.93 g/t Au.
