This vein was discovered around 1911. In 1925, claims covering the occurrence were held by Hazelton Porcupine Gold Mines Ltd. who completed trenching diamond drilling and shaft sinking. One shaft was put down near the location of Vein No.1. Aumo Porcupine Gold Mines Ltd. acquired the claims in 1944 and by 1946 had completed 4 diamond drill holes on this vein. 1985, Peter John Colbert completed stripping in Carscallen Tp on the northern extension of the vein. In 1987, a drill hole tested under the surface stripping.

Jun 16, 2020 (G Seim) - Hawley, J.E. (1926) wrote Vein No. 1, situated six chains west of Mahoney Lake on claim P. 8751, strikes approximately N20E and dips steeply east. No definite vein can be traced through this zone of schist, but small stringers of bluish quartz and rusty to reddish carbonate are abundant. Thin sections of specimens taken along a similar shear zone to the west show a complete gradation from altered massive biotite granite to sericite schist with eyes of blue quartz.

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - The vein or shear zone has a length of 150 feet, pinching out to the north and south and extending a short distance into Carscallen, Claim P.10988. Diamond drilling under the outcrop of this vein for 300 feet at an angle of 57 degrees, is reported to have cut mineralized sections of quartz and tourmaline which yielded some gold on assay. The width of the zone on the surface ranges from one to five feet. An undated, anonymous, map in assessment file T-10 indicates that several assays on this vein range from 0.02 over 11 inches to 0.52 over 12 inches. Unfortunately it is not known if these values are in OPT, DWTs or dollar values.
