Exploration History

1909 or 1910: claims staked, known as James property. 1909-1924: surface work by owners James and Whalen. Before 1925: 15 pits and 2 shafts exploring 17 separate veins. Before 1927: known as Whalen-James property. 1927-1928: Furness Gold Mines Limited sank a 2 compartment shaft on claim HR 887 to a depth of 155ft with a level at 125ft with 441ft of drifting (AR 37-1, AR 38-1). MRC 13 indicates work done by Furness was between 1925-1928 with 1200ft of drifting on the main shaft and two other shafts to 50ft and 65ft. AR 44-1 indicates 1200ft of drifting on 125 level by 1934. T-4 indicates that amount and timing of additional drifting on 125 level disputed but between 900-1200ft. Before 1933: held by Dougherty Syndicate. 1933-1934: Excello Mines Limited - incorporated in 1933, surface trenching and diamond drilling. 1934: no mining plant on the property when inspected in August 1934. 1940: Novell Porcupine Gold Mines Limited - reports 3 shafts with 50 and 60 ft inclined and a 25ft vertical shaft on HR888 and 155ft shaft on HR887, states no diamond drilling in property history which conflicts with information in AR 44-1. 1944, 1953: Novell Porcupine Gold Mines Ltd - diamond drilled 5000ft. 1964-1965: Consolidated Novell Mines Limited - geophysical and geological surveys and sampling. 1981: Amax Minerals Exploration - mapped, sampled, and found prexisting workings including 20 trenches and pits and four shafts, 1 diamond drillhole (46m). 1984-1985: - Diplomat Resources Inc. - ground magnetic and VLF-EM survey, stripping, dewatering and mapping of old workings, sampling, and trenching. Report includes results from 4 drillholes drilled by Amax in 1981. 1987: Tyranex Gold Inc. - ground magnetic survey. 1988: Mill City Gold Inc. drilled a 502 ft diamond drillhole on HR 888, assays not included with the log; 1993-94: F. Renaudat - prospecting, assays, ground geophysics, mapping, trenching.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (Q Unknown) - The northeast corner of Deloro township, south of the Destor Porcupine Fault, is underlain by mafic to intermediate and felsic to intermediate calc-alkalic flows and pyroclastics of the Deloro Group. Iron formation is commonly found through the flows and a thick band separates the mafic to intermediate and felsic to intermediate flows. Porcupine sediments are found north of the Deloro Group followed by the komatiitic ultramafic volcanics of the Tisdale group. Locally quartz feldspar porphyries intrude the sequence. Diabase dikes of the Matachewan and Abitibi dike swarms are present.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (Q Unknown) - The property is underlain by mafic and intermediate flows and pyroclastics of the Upper Deloro Group. The flows are pillowed or fragmental locally ranging from tuffs to agglomerates. Iron formation is common throughout the property. Diabase dikes of the Abitibi and Matachewan dike swarms are present. Quartz veins can be found in most of the lithologies. A quartz vein system which follows a pyritic sediment or iron formation contains anomalous amounts of gold. High gold values have historically been reported from other iron formations and veins on the property but have not been reproduced. A quartz vein historically reported to contain visible gold and tellurides has not been located in recent work. More recent sampling has returned anomalous gold values from sampling and drilling around the shafts on HR 888.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - An anomalous zone grading 0.7 g/t Au over 2 m; 2.1 g/t Au over 2 m was observed by F. Renaudat in 1993.

Dec 07, 2005 (Q Unknown) - Historic: report gives gold assays of up to $800 (year unknown but prior to 1935 and therefore >23opt) with reports of visible gold and tellurides. These results have not been reproduced (T-0004). 1981: Amax Minerals Exploration sampled altered pyritic sediment and received gold assays of 9ppm and 0.5ppm. The values were in the vicinity of quartz veins but quartz veins sampled in the unit gave values of trace to nil (T-1978). 1985: Diplomat Resources Inc. received a gold assay of 0.01opt from a 1ft chip sample of roof of the 55ft inclined shaft. A 1ft chip sample of iron formation and quartz vein returned a gold value of 0.036opt from the 65ft inclined shaft. Gold values of 0.012, 0.022, 0.014, and 0.038opt were returned from 1ft chip samples across quartz veins, iron formation, and underlying metavolcanics in the iron formation to the east of the shafts on HR888. Diplomat Resources Inc. also reported that Amax Minerals Exploration intersected 1.44ppm of gold in a 2m wide quartz vein in diamond drillhole 1043-14-3 near the 55ft shaft on claim HR888 (T-2966). Tourmaline is commonly present in the veins and rarely fuchsite, pyrite, and chalcopyrite are present (T-1978).
