Mineralization Comments

Mar 10, 2014 (A Wilson) - Virtually all ore mined from the property prior to 1942, came from footwall ore-bodies in the Preston Porphyry. They were described as replacement type lenses. Ore was also recovered from the North Greenstone Zone which consisted of large masses of white quartz or stockworks of quartz and tourmaline. The sulphide content of this ore was much lower and the principal metallic minerals were pyrite and pyrrhotite. Large pyrite cubes are commonly found in the wallrock of this ore zone. Assays from pyrite in this zone ran up to 2.43 oz/t Au. About 30% of the ore was found within the Porphyry Greenstone Zone. This zone was not identified prior to 1942. The wallrock shows considerable hydrothermal alteration. The zone is also described as being strongly schistose. The West Porphyries Zone comprises 3 separate porphyry bodies: Centre Porphyry, West Porphyry and Lower West Porphyry. The most common ore type occurs in east-west trending fissure fillings ranging in width from a few inches to a maximum of 12 feet. Considerable scheelite is found locally. The West Greenstones Zone lies adjacent to the Paymaster Mine boundary. The ore is in the form of sulphide veins and is a continuation of the ore zones at the Paymaster. Grab samples collected by Midcamp Mines in 1949 returned the following values: 4.63 oz/t Au from the north wall of the #2 Shaft, 5.39 oz/t Au from the surface dump at the #1 Shaft, 1.97 oz/t Au from the corner of the old south Dome claim. Assays from muck and channel samples collected in 1938 returned values of $200.00 over 5.5 ft while the remaining 70 feet of the vein returned $28.00 over 5.5 ft.
